This head or protome is of heavy-cast bronze; the mouth is pierced through, and on each side of the mouth a small indentation was perhaps intended for the attachment of a chain. The appliqué appears to have formed part of the fastenings for the shoulder straps of a metal cuirass from a statue of heroic size. Brown patina with green spots.
