Obverse: Encased in glass, profile bust of Louis XVI looking to proper right; inscribed at edge “LOUIS XVI ROI DES FRANCAIS NE A VERSALES 25 AOUT 1754” and below bust “DÉCAPITE A PARIS/LE 21 JANVIER 1795”.

Reverse: Inscribed “MÉDAILLIER/GENÉRAL/DES HOMMES ILLUSTRES/CÉLÈBRES OU FAMEUX/ANCIENS ET MODERNES/COMMENCÉ EN 1801/PAR P.G. LIENARD/A PARIS.”.
