Description(Ulm: Johann Conrad Wohler, 1705) Duodecimo; 198 (of 206) leaves; contemporary blind-stamped marbled brown calf, marbled paperboard slipcase.
Frontispiece showing gathering of animals, illustrations to fables, including rhinoceros and four elephants for Fable 50.
Later (third?) edition of a set of illustrations first published in Augsburg in 1677. Only the plate to the first Fable is signed by Schmidt after Sadeler. The illustrations are based on a series by Gilles Sadeler, published as Theatrum morum; many of his compositions were based on those of Gheeraerts. Plates 3 and 11 are lacking in this copy, as is the text between pp. 174-83.
