DescriptionWarp of linen; ground of red wool; design is woven with light and dark blue, yellow, green, and dark brown wool and natural-colored linen. Design shows a haloed bust in a central medallion surrounded by four stylized plant units and four bird-like motifs. The halo of the figure in the medallion shows a small vertical line and two horizontal ones suggesting that this is an image of Christ with a cruciform halo. The border encloses repeated forms of yellow lozenges flanked by small discs on a dark blue ground; sewed on a piece of linen cloth. Design shows Byzantine influence.
