Serapis wears an undecorated kalathos or modius on his head and a himation over the chiton or tunic covering his shoulders. Even green patina.

Provenance

1960, sold by J. J. Klejman (dealer; b. 1906 - d. 1995), New York, to the MFA for $850 [see note]. (Accession Date: December 1, 1960)

NOTE: Said to come from Alexandria; another bust from the same or similar mold came onto the New York art market at the same time.
