DescriptionCircular with mahogany base hinged at feet. Border of grapes and leaves with three shell and scroll feet. Marks on one foor and on rim to left a silver shield with Lowell crest over script JAL. Modern silver plaque on bottom: "John Amory Lowell, 1798-1897
InscriptionsMARKS: on the side of one foot, maker's marks: E&Co with a crown above; E M &Co (in three separate squares); illegible mark, possibly M.
ARMORIALS: engraved on the cartouche, crest of Lowell and monogram JAL (crest is different from that on 64.128 -- a stag's head cabossed or. Bet the horns apheon [az?] (Bolton's Am Arm.)
INSCRIPTIONS: engraved on an applied plaque below, "Iohn Amory Lowell / 1798-1881 / Iohn Lowell / 1824-1897 / Iohn Lowell / 1856-1922".
SCRATCHES: punched underneath one foot (diff from foot with marks) "2142". Punched underneath another foot (also diff from foot with marks), "S".
