DescriptionThis object is an awl or perhaps a model bow drill. A bronze bit/blade (now largely missing) is set in a long, cylindrical handle of wood with pointed head. It has been given a bevelled edge. Only handle is preserved well.
ProvenanceFrom Deir el-Bersha, Tomb 10, pit B. May 1915: Excavated by the Harvard University-Boston Museum of Fine Arts Expedition; assigned to the MFA in the division of finds by the government of Egypt; March 1920: received by the MFA.
