DescriptionRectangular mola panel with black cotton top, reverse appliquéd with polychrome cottons; complex pictorial scheme comprising ground divided into two horizontal registers of geometric cartouches delineated by bright pink cotton enclosing animalic motifs, the bottom row comprising three squares, the top divided into four interlocking triangular spaces; animals comprise, from left to right (top): rearing horse, deer or antelope, lobster angling for fish, cat, and fish; (bottom): horse or antelope; angling fish; and horse or antelope; ground filled with groups of vertical slits revealing blocks of polychrome cotton; motifs ornamented with embroidery in polychrome cotton thread executed in chain and running stitches.
