DescriptionThirty-four cardboard sheets, most with multiple cuttings mounted and outlined in red; some labeled. The cuttings are various, including engraved frontispieces, tailpieces, printers' devices, initial letters, and small illustrations from European printed books of the 16th, 17th, and 18th centuries. Some are identified.
ProvenanceBy about 1920, acquired (probably in London) by Henry Stuart Michie (1871-1943), Worcester, MA; 1943, inherited by Jeanne Hatch Michie (d. 1958); 1958, bequeathed to Jean Michie Crafts (1913-2002); 1987, presented to Thomas Michie; 2012, gift of Thomas Michie to the MFA.
