1772, received as a gift by Jane (Franklin) Mecom (1712-1794) at the funeral of her cousin Josiah Williams (1747-1772); 1794, bequest of Jane Mecom to her granddaughter, Sally Greene (1778-1795); by 1795, to Sally Greene's brother Franklin Greene (1780-1841); thence by descent to Franklin Greene Balch (1864-1958), the donor . By 1949, collection of Franklin Greene Balch; to MFA February 10, 1949, gift.
