DescriptionThe octagonal straight-sided body is pierced overall with geometric scrolls. Formed from seamed sheet, it has applied moldings on the foot and upper rim. The peached octagonal cover is hinged to a double-scroll handle. Engraved on each panel of the cover is a stylized flower and at the center is an octagonal baluster finial. An octagonal blue glass liner inside the silver body.
Marks On underside, maker's mark IF (Grimwade 1306) (repeated inside cover); lion passant (repeated inside cover); leopard's head crowned; date letter h (repeated inside cover); sovereign's head.
InscriptionsARMORIALS: engraved on cover, an unidentified crest:(a gloved hand holding a cross flory)
INSCRIPTIONS: scratched on underside, "No 39 CG", "No1".
