DescriptionCircular medal of Napoléon (1769-1821), emperor of France. From Histoire métallique de Napoléon le Grand prepare par la class d’histoire et de literature ancienne de l’Institut Impérial.

Obverse: Profile bust of Napoléon looking to proper left wearing laureate wreath; inscribed at edge "NAPOLEON EMP.ET ROI·" and under bust "DENON DIR./ANDRIEU F.".

Reverse: Iron crown of Lombardy made up of angels and holy men underneath arcade; inscribed at edge "NAPOLEON·ROI·D'ITALIE", below "DENON·DT·*JALEY·FT·", and in exergue "COURONNÉ·A·MILAN·/LE XXIII·MAI·/M·DCCCV·".
