春の部。書物奉行で北蝦夷や千島列島を探査した探検家の近藤重蔵(こんどうじゅうぞう)が文政2年(1819)屋敷の内に造った富士塚を、既にあった目黒の富士塚(025)と区別して新富士と呼んだ。右遠方に実際の富士山が山頂を見せている。現在の中目黒2丁目付近。 -- 藤澤紫K

NOTES:
[1] Much of Bigelow's collection of Asian art was formed during his residence in Japan between 1882 and 1889, although he also made acquisitions in Europe and the United States. Bigelow deposited many of these objects at the MFA in 1890 before donating them to the Museum's collection at later dates.
