DescriptionOne of a pair of shallow octagonal dishes. Rim is reeded with an ovolo patternabove. Engraved with a crest below the rim, probably that of Bateman and of S pencer.
Marks
Maker's Mark: Christie's gives the maker as Nicholas Besnier, but I cannot find a maker's mark. Warden's Mark: 1723-1724: a crowned G (Dennis, 202). Charge Mark: 1722-1727: a crowned A with interlaced L's (Dennis, 202). Other: a small rectangle; LHF; Countermark used after 1838: parts of insects (Rosenberg: 592 9). 9).
