Inscriptions「御町中様、益々御機嫌能く御座遊ばされ、恐悦至極に存じ奉り候。随て御当地に於て何がな珍しき品御覧に入れ奉りたく候處、此度新からくりを取り組み、並びに御江戸御存知の長谷川勘兵衛工夫仕る浪花四天王寺の景地、大仕掛けに取り組み、御見物の場所より高さ三丈五尺、五重の宝塔廻り、二十八間の廻廊諸共せり出し、太子堂、七堂伽藍、諸堂残らず舞台一面にがんどう帰し、大阪中の風景まで御覧に入れ奉り候間、初日より御賑々しく御光来成り、御見物のほど偏に希い奉り候。以上。

NOTES:
[1] Much of Bigelow's collection of Asian art was formed during his residence in Japan between 1882 and 1889, although he also made acquisitions in Europe and the United States. Bigelow deposited many of these objects at the MFA in 1890 before donating them to the Museum's collection at later dates.
