DescriptionAn ornament in the form of a seated sphinx. The function is uncertain. A high, scroll wing curves above the head. The other wing is missing and may never have been added since there is no evidence of damage. The sphinx sits on a thin flat disc. A suspension loop is attached to the base of the sphinx, so it would hang upside down if threaded.
