Heavy. Complete and in good condition with small chips at edges. No evidence of grinding wear, but surface is heavily scratched, especially on the narrow end of one side where intense scratching runs part-way across the palette. Both sides seem splattered with drops of oil or ink that has stained the stone.
Said to be from Sheikh Ali (Abadiya). 1903: Purchased for the MFA in Qena, Egypt from Ghirgas by Albert M. Lythgoe as part of a group (03.1493-03.1494, 03.1498, 03.1697) for £1. Acquired with funds from the Emily Esther Sears Fund.
