Panel. Plain linen cloth; lower third decorated with a band of embroidery in ivory silk and silver or gold (now tranished) thread. Pattern, in stem, satin and a variety of filling stitches and openwork, shows a pair of affronted birds separated by an urn from which grow carnations, pomegranated and otherflowers. Left half of this design is repeated at the right. At left, a slender flowering tree; to right of its base, date 1745 embroidered in metal thread and right of this; initials T. S. in fine red wool cross stitch. Across bottom, a narrow band showing a flowering vine. Narrow bobbin sewn along right edge of panel. Linen discolored. Some silk yarns worn off.
