DescriptionHalf of a shawl (made up as a curtain) with deep red wool ground (paired warps and wefts) with light neutral cotton wefts and warps forming stripes near top and bottom, and one side. Design: geometric figures, birds, lozenges, squares and diagonals, worked in cross-stitch, squared ground stitch and darning stitch with yellow and green wool and cream, blue and light blue cotton. Originally joined to another half (62.628) by open-work needle stitches. Turned in on sides and ends and lined with cotton sateen to make curtain with band of embriodered blue cotton stitched to edge on one side under lining.
