This scarab pendant may date from late Kingdom Egypt. The underside of the blue-green warn faience scarab is inscribed with a stylized rosette. The gold bezel which holds the oval piece is surrounded by a thin twisted wire which is soldered to a wide deep shaped frame. A heavy wire with a loop on the top runs through the boring of the scarab bead. A half round wire oval bail goes through this loop. It could be possible that the scarab is much older than the setting.
