Specialists in the Sando society help their clients resolve marital disputes, health woes, and economic difficulties by consulting with the spritual world. Together with the client, these specialists determine a particular course of action that is intended to solve the problem–whether prayer, wearing a protective charm, or other prescriptions. When a Sando specialist, also known as a diviner, starts out, she commissions small bronze twin figures, like this one, as part of the tools of her trade. The small sculpture represents twins.
