DescriptionThis long, straight pin has a large disc near its top. Beneath the disc are two globes of varying sizes, the uppermost one larger than the lower one. Engraved rings encircle the shaft of the pin above and below each of these globes. The shaft itself is further decorated with a series of lightly incised zigzags. The cross section of the shaft is almost rectangular near the top of the pin, but becomes gradually more circular at its bottom, a technically impressive detail.
ProvenanceBy date unknown: with Edward Perry Warren (according to his records: probably found in Boeotia; bought in Athens); 1898: purchased by MFA from Edward Perry Warren for $ 69,618.13 (this figure is the total price for MFA 98.641-98.940)
