Obverse: Profile bust of Pius IX looking to proper right; inscribed at edge “PIVS·IX·P·M·EL·DIE·XVII·COR·DIE·XVII·IVN·ANNO·MDCCCXXXXVI·” and on bust “[G]·GERBARA F”.

Reverse: Overlapping busts of Saints Peter and Paul, both looking to proper left; inscribed at edge “ROMAE·PARENTES·ARBITRIQVE·GENTIVM”.
