Painted in famillie rose enamels in the center with an animal leg against a roundel of green and yellow foliage, surrounded by fish, game, fruits and vegetables within a rococo shell border, the shaped rim with the coat-of-arms of Dom Gaspar de Saldanha e Albuquerque, a banner inscribed “SALDANHA,” the broken inscrition “DE AL BU QUER QUE,” and panels depicting a hunter and a fisherman, all joined by ribbon-tied floral swags.
Dom Gaspar de Saldanha e Albuquerque was the Rector of the University of Coimbra, Portugall Prelate of the Patriarchal Church of Lisbon; Deputy of the Board of Conscience and Orders, and President of the Tribunal. His father was Govenor and Captain-General of Rio de Janiero.
