Portrait of a man, full-length, seated in a chair, facing 1/2 right. verso: woman on ground left, appealing to man right, walking from her to right, dressed in Shakespearean costume. Faint pencil sketch of heads with limbs below on right. Possibly portrait of Flaxman himself, William Blake (JMille says definitely not) or A.S. Matthew- Cf. inscribed head in red chalk of Matthew (coll. Iola A. Williams, upr. Burlington Mag, June, 1960, p. 251, p1.27.)
