1928, the artist's estate; December 7-8, 1928, Pissarro estate sale, Hôtel Drouot, Paris, lot 138, to Otto Gerstenberg (b. 1848 - d. 1935; Lugt 2785), Berlin; 1935, by inheritance to his daughter, Margarethe Scharf (b. 1889 - d. 1961), Berlin; 1943, stored by Margarethe Scharf at Oberstdorf, Allgäu, Germany, where it was kept for the duration of World War II [see note]; 1961, by descent to Margarethe's son, Dieter Scharf, Hamburg; 1978, sold by the descendants of Otto Gerstenberg (probably Dieter Scharf) to August Laube, Zurich; July, 1980 sold by Laube to R. M. Light Co., Boston; 1981, sold by Light to the MFA. (Accession Date: May 13, 1981)
