DescriptionPanel made of two long pieces. Panurge dans l'Ile des Lanternes, from an opera by Grétry.
Natural cotton ground, copper plate printed in neutral violet. Vignettes showing figures in European or Oriental costume in a procession (one man being carried) led by musicians; men hauling a boat ashore; two men beating a great drum on a covered platform; etc. The architecture, in fantastic oriental taste, is liberally decorated with lanterns. Width of design and cotton incomplete. Cotton somewhat browned. A few small stains and holes. Left edge is irregular and ragged.
