Stairs and an archway lead into a walled city. A procession of priests are about to be led up the stairs by two choir boys. Each choir boy carries a candle. One (right) of the two men at the head of the group carries a processional crucifix; the other (left) carries a banner. The center priest reads from a prayer book. One (right) of the men at the read of the procession carries the incense burner. The sixth priest stands to the right of the two priests at the front of the procession.
To the right of the procession are three people. A lady kneels in prayer. A lady stands in prayer behind her. At the foot of the stairs a man stands, hat in his hands, with head bowed.
A building at the right edge of the image is in dark shadow.
