Signed Lower left: H Matisse / mars 46
InscriptionsRecto: signed and dated l.l. "H. Matisse / mars 46". Lower right, largely erased: 30/III (visible in Malingue, 1949, p. 83; see published references). Verso: PM in rectangle [? mark of Pierre Matisse?].
On the back, there is an inscription in graphite (pencil) at the upper right corner: 398/D. Also, at the lower right corner there is an illegible inscription, also in graphite (pencil). A digital image of the latter was taken by the paper lab and will be put into TMS (viewable in the Conservation portion of the object record). RP -- 3/1/04.
