DescriptionCircular knotted carpet with voided pile on field. Central medallion with a man, in Turkic costume, sitting on an oasis, smaking from a hookah. The medallion is surrounded by hunting scenes of men on horseback pursuing various animals admidst stylized floral motives. Narrow border with stylized inscriptions. Pendant dags all around warp end fringe. White cotton warp yarns; polychrome silk(?) pile and metallic yarn supplementary wefts. Good condition. Possible styled after Persian tent ceiling center pieces; see 28.13.
