Man or woman’s skirt. Printed by the reserve process and called by the Javanese word “batik”. Black ground covered with broad, diagonal bands of ornament in white and brown. These bands are separated by dark blue spaces detailed with circles and diamonds in brown and white. On one end is a dark blue panel with a design of branches bearing leaves and flowers, and of butterflies and scattered flowers in white, brown, black and light blue. Scalloped floral borders across the top and bottom.
