Scarabs and scaraboids

Orange-red carnelian with white inclusions. Scarab with a flat, oval base engraved in intaglio; pierced lengthwise. Upper part of a man in profile to right leaning over an unidentified object. Simple line border with notches along the edge. ‘A globolo’ technique. Back carved as a beetle with two lines separating the thorax and elytra. Three lines dividing the elytra. Schematic, plastic legs with hatching. Offset plinth. The lower two thirds of the intaglio and a large chip on the beetle’s head are missing.
