DescriptionThe case is oval in section, with a narrow base and straight sides flaring to a hinged, slightly domed cover. It is formed from a seamed sheet, with an inset base and cover, and applied wire reinforcing the rim. The borders have bands of pouncing, and the cover and body have bright-cut shields and foliage.
Marks On base, anchor; maker's mark SP (Jones, p364); date letter T. On cover; lion passant; maker's mark SP; sovereign's head.
