DescriptionThis is a shawabty of Queen Khensa, daughter of Kashta, sister-wife of Piankhy. The male figure wears a tripartite wig and has a long beard. The shawabty is uninscribed. The object was broken in two pieces and is not mended. This mummiforn shape does not have a back pillar or base. No hands or implements are depicted. The back is flat and there is no wig line. The feet are missing.
ProvenanceFrom Nubia (Sudan), el-Kurru, Ku 4 (tomb of Queen Khensa), chamber debris. 1919: excavated by the Harvard University–Boston Museum of Fine Arts Expedition; assigned to the MFA in the division of finds by the government of Sudan.
