ProvenanceFormerly belonged to Col. Thomas Fisher II, Elm Hill, Still River, MA. Previous ownership in the family descendants of General Joseph Vose of George Washington's staff--through a direct line (Joseph Vose to Josiah Vose to James Gardner to Josiah Howe to Margaret Howe, whose daughter married Thomas L. Fisher). The chair was supposedly bought by a Colonel Vose, but both Joseph and Josiah were colonels, so either one might be the original owner.
