Walnut, seat and back upholstered in maroon velvet. Chanelled stiles with foliated capitals, carved blocks and turret finials at apex, and turning resting on blocks at base. Pierced crest rails, with trefoil motifs and crotchets at intervals along top, forms pointed arch with foliated crest. Chair rail pierced with quatrefoil motifs. Seat rails shaped with raised veneer panels on either side of added carved leaf. Front legs turned at top and foot with chanelled straight section between.
Engraved plastic plaque attached to back rail: "FROM THE FIFTH AND SIXTH / MEETING HOUSES / OF / THE FIRST CHURCH IN NEWTON, MASSACHUSETTS / CONGREGATIONAL-UNITED CHURCH OF CHRIST."
