Silk satin brocaded with gilt threads. A formal design in vertically striped sections is brocaded in gilt threads on a blue silk satin ground. The panels have been sewn together, and were probably once used to make a sarafan, the traditional dress of Russian women. One of the panels still bears a lead seal stamped with Cyrillic letters. Condition: Fair; some stains and tears.
