Celebrating Utaemon’s return to Kamigata after five years performing in Edo; the print could have been published in either Edo or Kamigata. The publisher, Kashiwaya Matakichi, has not been identified but may be a Kyoto publisher.

[1] Much of Bigelow's collection of Asian art was formed during his residence in Japan between 1882 and 1889, although he also made acquisitions in Europe and the United States.
