Ecclesiastical Costume. Orarion bands, for Eastern Orthodox Church. Twelve rectangular compartments (six on each band) with similar saints, each holding a censer in the right hand and a small church raised in the left. Two lines of Slavonic inscriptions identifying the donor in metallic yarns on a worn red silk ground, plus a strip of red silk at the base of each band. Metallic and polychrome silk yarns on a linen base. Worn in many areas.

1937, H. Hassan, Paris; sold by Hassan to Elizabeth Day McCormick for $225; 1943 gift of Elizabeth Day McCormick to the MFA (Accession Date: October 14, 1943).
