ProvenancePossibly Edward Tuckerman to his wife, Elizabeth (Harris) Tuckerman; probably to his son, Edward (1775-1843) and his wife Hannah (1777-1814), daughter of Samuel and Sarah (Shaw) Parkman, who were married December 19, 1798. Edward married second Sophia May (1784-1870), daughter of John and Abigail May of Boston (see Cat. no. 193). Subsequent history unknown until owned by the Hon. Martin P. Kennard, 1891; descended in his family to the seller. Purchased by the MFA from Charles Collens, January 1939 for $600.
