Marks "REVERE" within a rectangle is stamped on the inside of tongs. Reserve is ragged underneath "EVE", leaving the letters "R" and final "E" more prominent.
ProvenanceJames Dunbar, m. Sarah Templeton, March 27, 1792; by 1920 their great-granddaughter, Eleanora Curtis, from whom the piece was bought by the collector Pauline Revere Thayer, who gave it to the Museum in 1935.
