DescriptionCentral scene illustrates the Annunciation. A fashionably dressed female figure representing the Virgin Mary stands left of center and raises her right hand as she gazes out at the observer. Symmetrical frame composed of convetionalized iris, tulips, roses, carnations and other blossoms passes beneath central scene and rises to form an arch above the figures. Drawing in highly conventionalized. Black ground almost entirely replaced with darning stitches. Faded and stained.
