The Ancient World



Obverse: Head of Pan, profile to left, in the center of a Macedonian shield. He has goat’s horns, a goatskin around his neck, and a throwing stick at his shoulder.
Around: seven eight-pointed stars in double crescents.
Reverse: Athena Alkidemos walking to left on tiptoe. She holds a shield with aegis and Gorgoneion on her raised left arm and hurls a thunderbolt with her raised right hand. Helmet in field at left and monogram at right.
Greek inscription at left and right.
