DescriptionThe design shows Syrian or Persian influence. Silk samit, 1/2 twill with red and white wefts creating a design consisting of lines of undulating vines and rosettes forming diamonds and enclosing circular or lobed medallions, in which are pairs of birds face to face or back to back. Like 07.641. Pieces like this have been found at Akhmim, buried in the Coptic graves.
