Daniela Edburg handcrafted this prop for her photographic portrait series Parasites and Perishables, but we feel each fiber sculpture is an evocative and engaging work in its own right. These carefully stitched sculptures highlight the paradoxical artifice of vanitas still lifes, which preserve forever those perishable items destined to naturally decay. Edburg updates this highly traditional art historical symbolism with a witty and surreal soft edge.
