DescriptionFrom the Tiger Hose Co. of Worcester, Mass. A carved and painted wooden figure of a rampant tiger resting its front paws on a coiled hose. Mounted on a flat oval base with carved edge.
ProvenanceBy 1953, Mary Allis, The Old Store on the Harbor, Southport, CT; 1953, sold by The Old Store on the Harbor to Maxim Karolik (b. 1893 - d. 1963), Newport, RI [see note]; 1953, gift of Karolik to the MFA. (Accession date: November 12, 1953)

NOTE:
The object arrived on the MFA on loan from The Old Store on the Harbor on May 12, 1953. Maxim Karolik purchased the object from the dealer on May 20, 1953 and gave it to the MFA later that year.
