Fragment of a series of small bands sewn together; xmall band of natural linen at the top of piece. Tiraz bands made of undyed linen warps and silk wefts of red, yellow, blue and black. 4 broad bands (.06 to .065 wide) sewed together; with guilloche enclosing (in top and 3d bands) conventional rabbits on red ovals; or (in 2d and bottom bands) blue scrolls. Bands are edged at top and bottom with debased Naskh inscription in red on yellow. Inscriptions: (top band) “In the name of God the Compassionate the Merciful. There is no god (but Allah)..” (2d band) “Victory from God” (3d band”…of God and his friend. ‘Abd el Majid, Abu’l Maimum…” (bottom band) “Victory from God.” See note.
