This plate was first used in 1766 as the title-page for six sonatas for harpsichord, Op. 5, by Johann Christian Bach. It was later reworked and used as the title-page for Bach's Op. 16, and in the third state was used as the title-page for William Shield's opera "Rosina," published by William Napier in 1782.
