Silver hollowware

Plate, silver washed on copper. Circular with slightly domed center; wide rim embossed with rather coarse floral design, dots near edges.

Bethiah Shrimpton of Boston probably originally owned these toys, as in her will, Shrimpton left her “Silver Baby things” to her sister’s children.


Bethiah Shrimpton (1681-1713); by inheritance to her sister Hunt's children; by descent to Mr and Mrs Francis S Dane; 1946, lent by Mr and Mrs Dane to the MFA; 1963, bought from the Danes by the MFA. (Accession date: June 19, 1963)
