Rectangular, with open work loop corners, foliated in gilt; double line, gilt border on all four sides; the body is white with names and map of Boston Harbor in bistre.

Inscription

Inscribed in ink on a large paper label applied to back: "Presented to the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, Nov. 1891 by Saml. P. Avery, New York. Purchased by him in Munich in 1873 from a collector who said it had been long in his family and was considered a specimen of old Meissen ware, Royal Dresden."
